JAPANESE INFLUENCE

The simplicity of Nordic design always has a nod of inspiration from Japanese culture and aesthetic. The new DAIKU picture frames by Gejst Design capture the essence of Japanese carpentry and woodworking. Inspired by centuries-old Japanese techniques such as Kumiko and Sashimono, the frames appear as if they are assembled entirely without the use of nails. The name "Daiku" comes from the Japanese word for carpenter, and it accurately reflects the careful attention to detail and craftsmanship invested in the frames.

SOFT FLOWING DESIGN

Draping and curves of organic inspired shapes are a continuing trend. Feminine lines and softness, continue to take the edge off the digital age we live in. Inspired by the art of drapery, Orimono Vase Collection by 101 Copenhagen reminisces the beauty of textiles falling in lavish curves.  Orimono, the Japanese word for textile, is an ode to the Japanese way of working with textiles in both clothing and interior.

ECLECTIC

Rather than one distinct look or feel, the new trend is to mix genres, for a authentically unique looking interior space. Statement pieces such as the new VIRTA rug by Sera Helsinki encompasses this eclectic feel with it's modern grid pattern and random lines and raised shapes.

This rug design would work in an art deco, mid century modern, 60s, 70s, Bauhaus, Nordic minimalist or a combination of all interior styles.

It also works with a variety of wood finishes and flooring, no matter what age or style of house, it will ground and harmonize a space beautifully.

VIBRANT HUES

Cobalt blues, poppy yellows, saffron oranges to rich green, adding a pop of bold hues and tones can really make a space come alive. If you are afraid of commitment, it is easy try adding small accessories that are functional and can be brought out at different seasons.

WARM TONES

Bold reds and oranges will bring lively warmth to interiors in 2024. The classic EM77 vacuum jug by Stelton is offered in both red and saffron orange. The jug continues to be a classic Danish design since 1977, keeping hot and cold liquids at temperatures for very long with it's double walled glass liner. It is a staple in every home through Scandinavia for daily coffee and tea service, through to the summer patio for cool drinks. It comes with 2 lids, a picnic screw on lid and pourable tilt lid.

MULTI-FUNCTIONAL DESIGN

A side table that doubles as a stool (COLUMN), a side table that works as a magazine rack (ISMO), a desk organizer that becomes a vase (GENUINE ORGANIZER), these multi-functional designs enhance the design, versatility, lifespan and everyday value of the product.

EARTHY MEETS TECH

Scandinavian design is incorporating down-to-earth living for camping and outdoor enthusiasts with technology. Our need to get back in nature is needed more than ever and now more convenient with products such as the Pier LED Lamp which use a standard phone charger USB plug to charge. The Pier comes in three finishes: matte black, matte sand and brass with a larger size arriving Spring/Summer 2024.

METALLIC

Reflective metallic finishes, with a 90s edge are back in style. From mirror stainless steel to brass adding a hint of metal to any spaces adds some glamour and reflects light beautifully.

FUTURE RETRO

Does that light talk? Is it new and futuristic or is it vintage? Blending the past and the future into an intriguing and irresistible mix, as seen by new younger Scandinavian brands 101 Copenhagen, Nordstjerne and Gejst, to older established brands like Stelton. Danish design has always been ahead of the curve, which is why classics such as Arne Jacobsen's Cylinda Line will never go out of style. New designs which fit this style are the new Toe Flat Chair and Trois Wall Light, both by 101 Copenhagen and will be available Spring/Summer 2024.

CHARACTER WITHOUT CLUTTER

Artistic & sculptural pieces offer a unique way to add interest to a minimal Scandinavian interior. Four pieces we love to add character to a modern interior:

  1. Artist Table by 101 Copenhagen

  2. Create by Nordstjerne

  3. Vuoristo Rug by Sera Helsinki

  4. Sahn Bronze by 101 Copenhagen
